BREAKING BAD AND BETTER CALL SAUL!!
Walt: "You know the business and I know the chemistry, I'm thinking maybe you and I could partner up."
Jesse: "You wanna cook crystal meth?"
i love this franchise!! yeah yeah the show is incredible - it's won 92 awards, it's one of the most critically acclaimed shows of all time, it has amazing cinematography and acting, the colour motifs were amazing the underlying themes of corruption and the systematic capitalistic abuse of the weakest members of society shook me to my core - but I JUST WANT TO FUCK GUS!!
but genuinely the show is great, the only problem i have with it is the lack of female characters which is still kind of an issue in better call saul, but i can excuse it since kim is perfect. i am completely obsessed with this franchise. i love every single character except walter (he can rot in hell). i say that as a skyler apologist. if you don't appreciate her you're a misogynist, sorry, i don't make the rules.
spoilers ahead!! please watch this show if you haven't already, it's incredible
my thoughts..
-> i am obsessed with this show. i love it as both a meme and as a serious piece of media to be analysed, and it means so much to me. every character is so well written, and there's little i could complain about
-> if i had to pick between brba and bcs i would probably pick bcs, solely because walter stresses me the fuck out. he's the one character i don't love to pieces and i can't handle watching him sometimes. i'd rather watch jimmy destroy his life over and over again rather than see walter have main character syndrome lol
-> i am a VERY ACTIVE member of the pinterest breaking bad community. ifykyk. i have no shame.
-> i love the modern brba fan community. as much as the middle aged men from 2010 that idolised walter white are funny, i too am a simple creature that enjoys the jesse pinkman trans headcanon :)
-> i'm horrifically down bad for almost every character. mike is an exception but i love him dearly i want to give him a big hug and it destroys me every time seeing his death scene. walter wasn't half the man mike was and vince gilligan should be sentenced to the electric chair for mike's horrific fucking death /j
favourite quotes!!
s5 ep6 - buyout
walt: "Jesse, you asked me if I was in the meth business or the money business. Neither. I'm in the empire business."
jesse"I don't know, Mr. White, is a meth empire really something to be that proud of?"
(some of) my favourite scenes!!
"a man provides", más, s3 ep5
-> i could talk for hours about this scene. gus is such an incredible character - this speech was passed around alpha male circles for a few years and hailed as incredible, but it just shows how good the writing was in this show. gus is actively preying on walt's insecurity and masculinity to try to get him to stay in the drug trade, and it worked. it clearly worked on some of the audience, too.
"what the hell is wrong with you! we're a family!", ozymandias, s5 ep14
-> this scene fucking broke me. skylar finally stands up to walt, and pulls a knife on him. she slashes him on the hand, and they fight until walt jr. manages to pull them apart, leaving his crutches behind. walt jr. calls the police, an arm in front of his mother, protecting her while walt insists "we're a family". he then steals their baby for leverage, completely antithetical to his words. walter is ozymandias, a conceited tyrant who naively assumed his reign would last forever.
"i did it for me. i liked it.", felina, s5 ep16
-> breaking bad is a tragedy. walter white is a tragic hero, desperately trying to prove his worth after living a life he isn't proud of, looking death in the eyes and trying to fight for his family's future. or so he says - even skylar grows tired of him after so many lies, and in this scene he finally, finally admits his selfish motivations to both himself and his family, rendering everything he did obsolete. it's tragic, with so many dying at his hand, and he can never fix what he did.
